A Time-Saving Endeavour

Because of my illness, Fibromyalgia, it is difficult to sit at the computer for any great length of time. Therefore, I have to “budget” my time to get anything done.

I am slowly recreating this website so any information that I enter automatically updates the section of site that it pertains to. For example, the “news” entries are now stored in a database so I don't have to continuously update both the home page and the news page every time I add an event.

Images are also handled automatically. I upload them to a specific directory then process them one at a time. Each image is automatically thumbnailed and added to the proper directory for use on the site. Their filenames, keywords, descriptions, and much more information is stored in a database so every section that makes use of these images has access to all the information.

Unfortunately, in order to accomplish this, I needed to create a control panel. This control panel allows me to add, remove, or edit anything that I have uploaded or created, including fixing the multitude of errors I somehow keep making. As time consuming as it is, in the long run, it will make my life easier and the time I spend at the computer can be used to maximum efficiency.

It may seem that there isn't much happening, but, a lot is being accomplished in the background. Eventually, all the work I've been doing will suddenly begin showing up and all my efforts will begin to take shape.

I have lots and lots of content to add so please be patient with me as this has become quite an endeavour.
